Arrival and Dismissal Expectations and After-School Tutorials
Arrival Expectations
When students enter the building, they may eat breakfast in the cafeteria or remain in the main hall.
- Students should leave the cafeteria after finishing breakfast.
- Starting at 7:05 am, all students should go to their first class of the day.
Dismissal Expectations
At dismissal, students should leave the building unless they are participating in a supervised after-school activity.
- Car riders should exit through the front of the building.
- Bus riders should exit through the back of the building.
- Student drivers should exit toward the student parking lot.
- Students participating in after-school activities should report directly to their activity sponsor or designated location.
After-School Tutorials
Students attending after-school tutorials must be picked up by a parent or guardian or ride the late bus home.
The late bus is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Expectations
- Students are expected to keep their hands, feet, and objects to themselves.
- Vaping and the use or possession of drugs or alcohol are prohibited on all Splendora ISD property.
- A first offense involving vaping or e-cigarettes results in an automatic 10-day ISS placement.
- Public displays of affection are not permitted.
- Students should treat others with respect, including in person and on social media. Negative or inappropriate posts about others are not acceptable.
- Students with an issue or concern are encouraged to seek assistance from a teacher, counselor, or administrator.
Campus Culture: Accountability and the Revocation of Privilege
Trigger: Student misconduct resulting in Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) placement or significant disciplinary infractions.
Consequence: Formal revocation of senior privileges may occur.
Key Policy Additions:
- The 2026–27 handbook introduces formalized language explicitly protecting the integrity of milestone events.
- Revoked privileges include, but are not limited to, Prom and Graduation activities.
Strategic Rationale: Reinforces the belief that students deserve high-quality experiences by ensuring those experiences are strictly reserved for students who uphold the district’s code of conduct.
Restroom and Hallway Expectations
To help minimize disruptions to instruction and maintain a safe campus environment, students are expected to follow these guidelines:
- Students should use the restroom closest to their classroom.
- During class time, students must have a hall pass to leave the classroom and must wear their student ID around their neck while in the hallway.
- Failure to follow these expectations may result in disciplinary consequences.
First 10 / Last 10
Students should remain in the classroom during the first 10 minutes and last 10 minutes of each class period.
- First 10 minutes: Students should remain in class to support accurate attendance and allow instruction to begin without interruption.
- Last 10 minutes: Students should remain in class to complete closing activities, clean up, and prepare for the end of the class period.
Transition Expectations
Students should move safely and efficiently between classes.
- Move with purpose, but do not run in the hallways.
- Take care of personal needs and other business between classes.
- Arrive to class on time and ready to learn.
- Hats and hoods should not be worn. For safety and security, students' faces must remain visible, including on campus security cameras.
- Walk on the right side of the hallway to help maintain a safe and orderly flow of traffic.
- Cell phones and earbuds must remain in backpacks and out of use throughout the school day.
Safety
- Do not open the doors for anyone.
- Do not prop doors open.
- Do not pull a door open from the outside if it is locked.
- Multiple safety drills will occur throughout the year. Listen to your teachers and announcements for directions.
