SHS Tardy Guidelines
Tardy Guidelines
It is very important that students arrive at class on time. In order to prompt student attendance, the following procedures will be used:
- Students are to be in class before the tardy bell rings.
- Teachers will close classroom doors at the sound of the tardy bell.
- Students who are tardy will report to the nearest tardy station for documentation and to receive their pass to class.
- A tardy is defined as: a student not inside the classroom when the bell rings.
- At the principal's discretion, "Tardy Sweeps" can be announced. At that time, any tardy student will be assigned consequences, regardless of how many tardies have been accumulated.
- Tardy reports are pulled from Skyward on designated dates by AP Secretaries. Students will receive consequences for tardies — tardies are cumulative across all class periods.
- Tardy counts will reset at the end of the designated time frames as outlined by the administrator. (See following dates.)
- Failure to attend assigned consequences can result in further disciplinary actions.
- Parents and students are encouraged to check Skyward often in order to monitor student tardiness, attendance, and grades.
- Any questions regarding attendance/tardies can be directed to the Attendance Office at shsattendance@splendoraisd.org.
- If a student is late due to the fault of the teacher, a pass will be accepted by the receiving teacher. The receiving teacher must also receive a communication (email/phone call) from the teacher alerting them to the student being en route to class.

Tardy Discipline Ladder

- At 5 to 7 Tardies: The student is assigned 1 day of After School Detention.
- At 8 to 10 Tardies: The student is assigned 2 days of After School Detention.
- At 10 to 13 Tardies: The student is assigned 1 day of Saturday School.
- At 14 or More Tardies: Consequences are subject to administrative discretion.
Every 10 tardies (cumulative across all class periods) will count as 1 absence towards the 90% Compulsory Attendance Rule (seat time).
Tardy Station Locations/Flow:
Students still in the hallways after the tardy bell rings must report to the closest tardy station to collect their Tardy Pass.
